Q: Do you work on Diesel vehicles?

A: Dr. Phil's does not currently service Diesel vehicles, However, Preventive Fluid Services will probably be offered on those vehicles when that program is rolled out in the future.

Q: Is your diagnostics free or refunded if you perform the repair?

A: Thanks for the question, but this may be a lengthy answer. There was a time in this industry, mainly in the 1950's & 1960's where it was common practice for repair shops to "give away" engine diagnostic services. Well, the year is now 2008 & I don't think I have to mention how much more complex the cars today are compared to 40 years ago. There are on average between 5,000-6,000 parts on todays cars, which 40 years ago at best had a mere few hundred parts installed. A typical engine diagnostic of 40 years ago always consisted of a "tune-up" regardless of the complaint or vehicle mileage. Those tune-ups usually solved the problem about 90% of the time mainly because the ignitions systems of the time had lots of moving parts that wore out in as little as every 10,000 miles. Nowadays that rough running engine or check engine light can be can be like finding a needle in a haystack trying to accurately find the problem. Also, the cost of information services we must use to gain access to vital repair information is not cheap & we must pay a monthly subscription for. It adds alot of costs to offer diagnostic services.

(Trust me when I say that there are alot of shops out there doing diagnostic work with no repair info available. There is quite alot of shop owners who refuse to pay for such services) I know this from first hand experience.

Q: Dr. Phil, will you install parts I supply?

A: Dr. Phil's prefers to install his own high quality parts mostly from Carquest. However, If you choose to purchase your own parts elsewhere from other than Dr. Phil's you will be billed a higher book time rate.
